All about Sedbergh CDC
Sedbergh CDC organises courses for adults in the Sedbergh, Kendal and Kirkby Lonsdale areas. Over the past few years we have grown to become one of Cumbria's larger Adult Education providers and most of our courses are supported by funding from Cumbria Adult Education. We work closely with Settlebeck High School and Sedbergh Primary School, Queen Katherine School in Kendal and Queen Elizabeth School in Kirkby Lonsdale to provide a coordinated programme of courses in the South East corner of Cumbria.
We began running IT courses in 1998 as part of an initiative called Cumbria CREDITS. This innovative project encouraged adults back into learning by offering computer courses in local primary schools. In 2001 we took over organising the Adult Education course programme at Settlebeck High School and started building up a very successful range of courses. We extended our area of provision in 2007 when we began to offer courses in Kirkby Lonsdale. Early in 2008 we were asked to take over managing the community education programme at Queen Katherine School, Kendal. This has given the opportunity to present a wider range of subjects than ever before.
We are also involved in community development activities such as Sedbergh Booktown and the school Extended Services project. In addition we develop IT solutions for local businesses.
