How to book a place on one of our courses
We hope that you have found all the information you need to decide whether a course is suitable for you. If you have any further questions then please get in touch with us using one of the methods shown on the Contact Us page
Course Enrolment
Booking as early as you can helps us to see whether a course will be viable well before it is due to start. Some courses have limited places so early booking is essential. We cannot guarantee you a place until payment is received. Cheques will not be cashed until we know the course is viable. Your cheque will be returned if a course does not run, or is already full.
To enrol by post:
- Print a course information sheet from the curriculum pages (Courses link).
- Check whether you need to pay A, B or C category fees (see below).
- Add a £2 annual centre fee if this is your first course since September 2009.
- Send us a cheque made payable to Cumbria County Council. Please include course details and your name & address.
- To save costs we like to communicate with you by email, so please include your email address if possible. It will not be passed on to anyone else.
Fees:
- Fee A is the fee if B or C do not apply.
- Fee B applies if you are over 60 on 1st September 2009 and not in employment for more than 16 hours per week.
- Fee C applies if you are unemployed and receiving jobseekers allowance, in receipt of Income Support, Working Tax Credit (subject to threshold), Housing/Council Tax Benefit, Pension Guarantee Credit; or Aged 16+ but under 19 on 1st September 2009. Unwaged dependants of those listed above also pay Fee C. Evidence required at time of booking.
- Don't forget to add a £2 annual centre fee, payable once per person per academic year.
Please enquire if you are not sure.
Refunds and Discounts:
All refunds and discounts are at our disrection.
- Fees are due for a whole booking period (normally a full term) as specified in the course information. Refunds are not normally given if you are unable to attend. In exceptional circumstances (for example if you move into the area part way through a term) we may offer you a discount for the classes you have missed.
- If we have to cancel a session due to bad weather, tutor unavailability or for any other reason we will either reschedule that session, credit you with a session in the following term or give you a refund for that session.
