Our photography courses will help you to take better photos by teaching you about the equipment, photographic techniques and composition. Some of the courses will also teach you to edit and enhance your pictures on a computer.

The workshop will provide you with a practical introduction to the fascinating task of photographing people. We will look at most aspects of ‘people’ photography; from the posed formal portrait to the candid ‘snapshot’; indoors and out; in natural and artificial light. In a relaxed atmosphere, we will take lots of photographs, learn techniques, pick up tips and discuss and learn from the resultant pictures.

This is a day out taking photographs at the ancient seaport of Glasson in the company of an experienced photography tutor. The docks, canal basin, boats, buildings, bird life and surrounding rural landscape provide a wealth of photographic opportunities. Frank will work with you, both as a group and as individuals, to help develop your eye for a good picture and to help improve your photographic technique.

A visit to South Lakes Wild Animal Park, one of Europe’s best wildlife conservation zoos and the home to a wide variety of animals from all corners of the world, provides wonderful photo opportunities. Frank will work with you both as a group and individually to ensure that you make the most of the opportunities, master relevant techniques and capture some interesting and exciting pictures.

Frank Balaam
Since taking early retirement Frank has pursued his life-long interest in photography and has subsequently gained an MA degree in his subject. He is an enthusiastic practicing photographer and an experienced tutor.
